This varies, depending entirely on your personal requirements. Gate kits range from £500 upwards.
Q: What power supply is required for the system?
Answer
There are a number of different systems on the market today. Some are “three phase” Heavy industrial. Some are “240v mains” and some are “12/24v Low volt”. Supply for the automation alone is often too little for supplementary equipment, such as communications, lighting or maintenance tools i.e. welding, drilling etc. Therefore at least a suitable 240V, 13amp constant & dedicated supply is always recommended.

1. Mains Supply: For distance up to 200 metres, 2.5 mm diameter cable is suffice. Use 4mm for greater distance than 200 metres
2. Low Voltage Cable: For use with photocells, beacon, and key switch: Use 4-core 0.75mm
3. Gate Motor Cable: Use 4-core 1.5 Armoured
4. Ground Loop Cable: Use only cable supplied with ground loop
Q: How secure are the gates when closed?

DEA motors are non reversible and will not move unless given a command to do so. However if your gates are not particularly rigid there may be enough room for someone to squeeze through, in this case an electric lock is recommended.

The key fobs have a range of up to 80 metres without an aerial, 150-200 metres with an aerial.
Q: Are solid gates affected by wind?

Close board gates or solid gates are affected by wind resistance and should only be installed in sheltered environments. The larger the opening or gate leaf the bigger the potential problems may be.

There are many ways to open a gate, the most popular is the key fob supplied with the kit. Other ways include hard wired keypad or videx range of access controls systems such as an “Audio” or “Video” entry link etc
Q: Will the gates close on an obstruction or user?

Each gate kit will come complete with a set of photocells; these are normally mounted on each pillar and project a beam across the entrance. If a car or any object (e.g. child, pet) breaks the beam, the gates will either not move, or, if it has started closing then the gate will stop closing and open out again. Additional photocells may be mounted on posts towards the house for extra safety.

Systems can be designed to allow free access to all, or, impose restricted entry according to client needs. During restricted entry, different command devices maybe used such as “Codes” “Cards” or the visitor may request entry via a communications system, such as an “Audio” or “Video” entry link etc
